●比較級・最上級の表現

ものや人を、「〜よりおいしい」「一番おいしい」とか、「〜より年上です」「一番年上です」などと比較する表現は、日常会話には欠かせないものです。ここではそんな表現をとりあげますが、まず英語では以下のように形容詞や副詞を変化させて表現します。

(語尾にer、estをつけるもの)
new - newer - the newest	old - older -the oldest
young - younger - the youngest	big - bigger - the biggest
busy - busier - the busiest	pretty - prettier - the prettiest

(不規則に変化するもの)
good/well - better - the best	bad - worse - the worst
many/much - more - the most

(長い綴りのもの)

delicious - more delicious - the most delicious

beautiful - more beautiful - the most beautiful

popular - more popular - the most popular

international - more international - the most international
